Jeff Mwathi Death Case – A New Twist In The Investigation

The time of 3 am on Thursday, February 23, 2023, is sometimes referred to as the witching hour, while others know it as the devil’s hour.

On this particular day, Lawrence Njuguna, also known as DJ Fatxo, a renowned Kikuyu entertainer, found himself in the midst of a troubling situation.

He had called a young man named Jeff Mwathi, who was 23 years old, for what he believed to be an interior décor job. Unfortunately, things took a deadly turn, and Mwathi ended up dead outside DJ Fatxo’s house in Nairobi’s Safari Park estate.

According to witness statements obtained by the local police, Mwathi jumped from the 10th floor to the hard concrete downstairs, resulting in his death by suicide.

However, Mwathi’s relatives, including his uncle Samuel Muchoki, a Kikuyu benga musician known as Samidoh, have expressed doubts about the official narrative.

They are calling for a conclusive and transparent investigation to be conducted to determine the truth about what happened to their loved one.

The Nairobi County police boss, Adamson Bung’ei, has reassured all parties involved that the police will investigate the matter thoroughly and present the case as it happened.

He has also urged Kenyans to refrain from speculation and judgment, emphasizing the importance of pursuing the truth and presenting it in an open and transparent manner.

Meanwhile, DJ Fatxo has suffered a significant setback in his career, with some business partners suspending engagements with him out of fear of negative publicity.

Companies such as Citified Homes, Lesedi (now Tuza), Vodka Sweet Berry, a rice company in Kirinyaga, and Optiven have all cut ties with the entertainer.

DJ Fatxo, who hails from Nyandarua County, has worked hard to establish himself as a successful disk jockey, performing artist, and brand ambassador, earning himself a spot in the millionaires’ club in just eight years.

The witching hour, or devil’s hour, may have lived up to its ominous reputation for DJ Fatxo and Jeff Mwathi on February 23, 2023.

However, with a thorough and transparent investigation, the truth about what happened can be determined, and justice can be served.

Ndi Mang’a (I am drunk)

In 2020, he became famous with his song “Ndi Mang’a” (I am drunk) and started performing at high-paying Mugithi events.

The following year, he collaborated with Kamoko, another Kikuyu singer, to release “Mwomboko,” solidifying his position among the top vernacular singers.

However, he tragically lost his life in suspicious circumstances. Mwathi and two friends were trying to establish themselves in the interior décor industry when he received a call from DJ Fatxo about a potential contract.

To meet with DJ Fatxo, Mwathi borrowed Sh200 from his mother and went out to meet him. Mwathi’s mother revealed that she received a video confirming that they were together.

Still, the meeting turned into a night of heavy drinking and clubbing across four Kiambu and Murang’a counties bars.

Later, a scene-of-crime report revealed that Mwathi’s body had multiple fractures on his legs and hands, an open skull, and was naked from the waist down.

According to CCTV footage, Mwathi and DJ Fatxo retired to the ill-fated house at around 3 a.m. with three women and another man. DJ Fatxo left with the women around an hour later, leaving Mwathi in the company of the two men, one of whom is a relative of DJ Fatxo.

The two men were seen on CCTV cameras going downstairs and then coming back up to the house, minutes before a human of Mwathi’s build fell from the window and died.

The preliminary investigation report revealed that Mwathi died of acute trauma resulting from multiple injuries on the head and limbs. DJ Fatxo claimed that he did not know that it was Mwathi who was lying dead in the compound when he returned to the house at around 9 a.m.

He is seen in the CCTV footage looking at the body in shock before going back to his house. However, the two men who were with Mwathi claimed that he died by suicide after jumping out of the room. The detectives are investigating the missing links, including Mwathi

Mwathi’s unfortunate death occurred suddenly and without warning; he had only been inside the house for seven minutes before tragedy struck, leaving a lifeless body on the concrete floor.

Post-mortem reports concluded that the cause of death was acute trauma resulting from multiple injuries to the head and limbs, immediately raising suspicions of foul play.

What made the scene even more macabre is that DJ Fatxo, who had returned to his house at 9 am, found himself in Mwathi’s presence without realizing it was his contractor lying there.

When confronted with this unexpected sight, camera footage revealed him unable to comprehend reality as he looked at the deceased person with a face filled with shock and horror before eventually deciding to retire back up into his abode.

While the two men present in the house where Mwathi jumped to his death insist that he had committed suicide, the forensic teams are still investigating this matter to connect all the dots and establish the true cause of death.

In efforts to uncover more details, detectives have devised a strategy of visiting all places where Mwathi had visited or been seen with certain people prior to his death, taking evidence such as security tapes and witness testimonies for further investigation.

Additionally, much effort is being put into questioning Mwathi’s history with these two other men present in the video and trying to ascertain his relationships, such as how long he has known them and their collective s*xual orientation.

It’s also essential to determine the reaction of these two men when they heard about Mwathi’s death and why they remained indoors instead of helping. This evidence could help close gaps in understanding exactly how and why Mwathi died that day.

It is indeed a strange coincidence that the two left Mwathi in the house only to find him dead in the compound when they returned.

This unique set of circumstances warrants further analysis, as there may be some significant implications that only an expert forensic investigation can uncover.

By studying CCTV footage and other relevant recordings, it should be possible to ascertain what went wrong and what caused the tragic death of Mwathi.

Ultimately, such experts will be able to provide important insights on how buddies normally behave under such circumstances, bringing us one step closer towards solving the puzzle of the mysterious death that occurred outside of Mwathi’s house.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding DJ Fatxo and the late Mwathi have finally gotten the attention of detectives.

It has been revealed that Mwathi was invited to DJ Fatxo’s home in the dead of the night, and taken along on an alcoholic binge–all under the guise of a job offer.

Authorities are now trying to piece together what happened that night, and if there were any underlying factors to take into consideration; such as past mental health issues or even familial strife.

It appears that Mwathi’s mother harbored deep-seated fears regarding her son’s movements, going as far as asking for video evidence when he left with DJ Fatxo.

As detectives try to unravel this chaotic situation, it remains unclear as to whether or not justice will ever be served for Mwathi’s untimely death.
